Is exposing college students to raunchy and vulgar performances part of  higher education? Some at Eastern Kentucky University apparently think so. According to the Lexington Herald Leader, EKU officials agreed to pay  controversial rapper Ice Spice $275,000 for an on-campus performance in Richmond. Ice Spice is known for provocative outfits, raunchy comments, and lyrics that dehumanize women. She’s now slated as the featured performer for the fall 2026 Big E welcome concert at alumni Colosseum. Critics say this is about speech, diversity and pushing boundaries. But is it really? Perhaps its another indictment on higher educations’ judgment.  According to the Richmond Register “in the past couple of years, though ice spice has faced more controversy than chart success.”
