The tragic shooting of Breonna Taylor has been portrayed as the police targeting an innocent black person. But according to Louisville Police Officer Jonathan Mattingly, this was nothing like George Floyd or Ahmaud Arbery. Mattingly is the first Louisville police officer to break the silence surrounding Taylor’s tragic death. Mattingly contends the drug raid involving Taylor and her boyfriend who ended up shooting Mattingly didn’t have anything “to do with race. Nothing at all.” It had to do with a drug investigation and targeting criminal activity. Mattingly said Louisville’s Mayor Greg Fischer failed to correct the disinformation that fanned the flames that led to violence and that as “each day that passed” without misinformation being rectified [it] was “adding fuel to the fire.”
