The New DEAL Forum, with the help of four state Secretaries of State, released a report on “Artificial Intelligence and Elections”. The report raises concerns about how deep fakes lead to confusion and misinformation regarding campaigns and political leaders. When it comes to politics, truth has faced many attacks since the pandemic with many conspiracy theories and growing distrust of the government. The reason AI and deep fakes are receiving so much attention is because of the ability of AI to distort and change truth. If people do not believe that the government is truthful there is no reason to trust or rely on the government. And not trusting the political process, and our governmental leaders is the fastest way to destroy democracy.
