Many Republicans are backpedaling on the issue of abortion in response to pushback from the pro-abortion left. They’ve highlighted horrible situations in order to justify all abortions. Now, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that an 1864 law banning all abortion is still in effect. But Republican candidates from gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake to even former President Trump have criticized strict bans, calling for a compromise which allows some abortions. Republicans in Florida have also tempered their message, as the state faces a constitutional referendum on the issue this November. Some Republicans think that they need to moderate their position in order to win elections. But the principle of protecting vulnerable unborn life hasn’t changed. Instead, Republicans should defend the Constitution’s guarantee to protect life and why it’s important to all of us.
