Pro-life means more than just defending unborn life in the womb. It means caring for human life in all its stages. The Kentucky General Assembly is considering legislation that seeks to protect and value life.  One bill mandates suicide prevention training for public school teachers and administrators. Another bill would require drug abuse prevention in public schools and yet another would require recipients of public assistance to go through a substance abuse screening program. The common thread in these bills is that they seek better health and caring for the individual. Now, there are limits to what government can accomplish but the implied message sent by the legislature is that human life is valuable, that it should be protected, and that people should flourish.
