Do you think churches should have to pay for abortion coverage for their employees? The state of California does. In 2014, the California Department of Managed Health Care ordered insurers to change their policies to remove limitations for abortion coverage. This means churches have to offer staff members abortion insurance coverage. A federal court handed down a ruling that favors the state.  The ruling is a blatant disregard of First Amendment freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. An attorney representing four churches in the case said that “California has no right to dictate what pastors or churches believe on moral and cultural issues…. Yet, with the stroke of a pen—and without consulting the public—the state mandated that churches must pay for the taking of innocent human life."
