The Biden Administration’s Department of Education expanded the category of sex from just men and women to include “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.” According to analysts, instead of expanding a right to transgender identified people, it will strip rights from parents, women, and children. This decision is confusing and harmful for all Americans (especially children), and undermines the original intent of the Civil Rights Act. It’s impossible to protect men and women from discrimination if you’re not willing to define what a man or woman is. The Biden Administration has replaced a scientific understanding of the human person with an ideological one. Ultimately, Biden’s directive undoes hard-fought Title IX protections which gave women and girls a level playing field for school sports.
