A new congressional report alleges that former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen to sign executive actions—potentially without direct oversight—casts doubt on the legitimacy of certain decisions, especially pardons he issued just prior to leaving office earlier this year. In his tenure, Biden issued 80 pardons and 4,165 commutations which is the most of any U.S. president.  Autopens have been commonly used but with the president’s oversight. This appears to not be the case according to this report. Our republic requires transparency and following  the rule of law. And when doubt arises over who authorized official presidential acts it erodes public confidence. Americans deserve the truth about who exercises power and accountability from those entrusted with it.
