Abraham Lincoln once said that education was “the most important subject which we as a people can be engaged in.” Yet, the cost of a college education continues to rise, leaving many Kentuckians unable to pursue their dreams. Thankfully, our Commonwealth has stepped in to provide scholarships for Kentuckians with a high school diploma who have not received a college degree. The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship program kicks in once state and federal aid has been used. It can be used for several different degrees or certificates and allows cash-strapped students to get a post-secondary education without going into debt. This scholarship program has been around for a while but many Kentuckians either don’t know about it or have taken advantage of it. That’s why we’re talking about it here.
