Today the polls open across the Commonwealth for in-person voting. The number of polling places is fewer but the number of days to vote is greater. The idea is to spread out in-person voting over the next three weeks to slow the spread of coronavirus. It appears that more Kentuckians have opted to vote in-person than they did during the primary election. Less than 18 percent have requested mail-in ballots. This may be due to increased concern over the possibility of vote fraud. Despite what defenders of mail-in balloting say, there is a greater opportunity for fraud. The more people handling ballots and longer transit from voters casting ballots to election officials who tally them makes it easier to cheat. Regardless of how you vote, make sure you get out and cast your ballot. You’ve got three weeks to do it.
