1 in 8 Americans took antidepressants in 2019. After the COVID pandemic, it’s expected that the number is much higher. But are antidepressant drugs helping? According to a new study, only 15 percent of those on antidepressants see an improvement over those who are taking a placebo. Depression has been a major issue for Americans and recent surveys indicate that Americans are as unhappy as ever. How can this be in the world’s freest, most prosperous nation? Perhaps it’s because too many of us have put our hope in the wrong things, like money or leisurely pursuits. Somewhere along the journey they’ve realized that those things cannot provide ultimate happiness and meaning, which is something only God can do.
