The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that the slot-like machines Kentucky horse tracks call historical horse racing fail to meet the definition of pari-mutuel wagering. This ruling overturns a Franklin Circuit Judge, who authorized the gambling devices in 2018. The Supreme Court said that “If a change… is to be made that change must be made by the people of this Commonwealth through their duly-elected legislators, not by an appointed administrative body and not by the judiciary.” The Supreme Court sided with the democratic process as to how laws are supposed to be made. It also pushes against Big Gambling’s linguistic contortions that benefit themselves at the cost of everybody else.
