Every afternoon, Gov. Beshear gives his coronavirus briefing. He updates us on the numbers of new cases, new deaths attributed to coronavirus, and reminds us that “we’re all in this together.” Some tune in religiously and hang on every word. But is the daily briefing really necessary? Is this new and important information that we should know about? Or is it contributing to a state of fear? It’s true we may never know the impact the stay at home and physical distancing order has had on slowing the spread of the disease. But we do know that Kentucky has been minimal impact compared to other states. As the economy begins to open up, it’s important for our leaders to be prudent, and avoid contributing to a state of fear.
