I received an email the other day from somebody who objected to a recent update I sent out. The letter was cynical and derisive about many things in our culture. Such cynicism is corrosive and undermines the ability to change for the better. Especially for Christians who should not be cynical people. It doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. But if there is a God, we can ultimately put our hope and our trust in him. If we have freedom, we can put that freedom to work for God’s glory. Putting time and energy into cynicism is time and energy wasted. So here’s my advice next time you see something wrong and are tempted to be cynical, look to God and ask him to work through you and work for righteousness.
