Ever hear of the Hyde Amendment? Unless you keep tabs on the abortion debate you probably haven’t. In short, the Hyde Amendment has been a federal law for decades and says that no federal funds can be used for abortions in the United States. It was sponsored by stalwart pro-life Congressman Henry Hyde, a legendary champion to protect the unborn. But last-minute heroics by Sen. James Lankford, (R-Oklahoma) put the law back in place. The deciding vote, by the way, was by Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who is one of the few pro-life Democrats remaining in Washington.
