It's almost in the news daily: opioid overdoses across Kentucky. Opiods are supposed to be pain killers but our state is suffering because of widespread abuse. The governor just launched a campaign to raise awareness and stem the flow of drugs. But cutting off the drug supply will only provide a temporary fix.  It's only part of the equation, so we must look deeper and ask questions: Why are people abusing powerful drugs like like Fetanyl and Carfentanil in the first place? It's because their struggling with pain and suffering and sometimes emptiness. Sometimes it starts as physical pain. Sometimes it starts as emotional pain. Numbing the pain isn’t working. This is why we need pastors and counselors to engage at a deeper level and address the spiritual side of the issue.
