An important poll by Pew Research found that nearly 30% of American adults identify as “Nones”–10 points up from a decade ago. Nones are a category that includes atheists and agnostics. While the U.S. has been on a trend toward secularism for decades, this is alarming on a number of levels. The source of our rights is in jeopardy when the Creator isn’t recognized as the giver of our rights. And our freedom is in jeopardy when there are no moral absolutes and no guardrails in life. This rise of the “Nones” should concern us, but this is an opportunity to reflect on the bigger questions of what our lives are about and what is God’s role in our nation. Without acknowledgment of God, the future of our nation is in peril.
