Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is making waves after signing on to a letter with fellow Senators criticizing the 1619 Project. This project which was launched by The New York Times reframes the country’s history through the lens of slavery and teaches that racism is at the core of our shared American identity. McConnell and his colleagues are asking the U.S. Department of Education’s to stop promoting this unbalanced and one-sided view of our history that only further divides us. The letter said. “Our nation’s youth do not need activist indoctrination that fixates solely on past flaws and splits our nation into divided camps.” “Taxpayer-supported programs should emphasize the shared civic virtues that bring us together, not push radical agendas that tear us apart.”
