Pornography is everywhere on the internet and easy to access. 90% of children between ages 8 and 16 have been exposed to online pornography. 70% of children between 8 and 18 came across online porn while doing research for their homework. When children are exposed to pornography, it damages their prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for things like impulse control, focusing attention, and planning for the future. If we want to ensure the welfare of our children, they should be protected from harmful material. And Louisiana is now leading the way. A new law restricts minors’ access to pornographic websites. The law requires any website with over 33% of pornographic material to require an official ID to keep minors away from these harmful sites.
