One of the many things this pandemic has taught us is how inefficient the government can be. As Gov. Beshear forced businesses to close, unemployment insurance claims rose dramatically. Yet Beshear’s Unemployment Insurance office has failed to serve Kentuckians promptly. State Auditor Mike Harmon found that 80,000 claims were still unprocessed at the end of October, and more than 400,000 emails were left unread by the office. Many citizens are still out of work and have not received their payments. Some have even been overpaid by the state. which has brought on strong criticism of Gov. Beshear who continues to shift the blame. Yet at the end of the day, the buck stops with the guy who forced businesses to close in the first place.
