There’s a new term today: gender extremism. This is an ideology that teaches that human beings can change their gender at will and that society must agree with a person’s extreme choices. The conflict is over forcing the rest of society to agree and accommodate an identity that doesn’t correspond to biology or sociological norms. As a result, the importance and respect of gender differences is being reasserted. Students at Abraham Lincoln High School in Iowa walked out of class after a boy was allowed to use the girls’ restrooms. And Selina Soule, the high school athlete from Connecticut filed a complaint with the Department of Education because biological boys are allowed to join girls track. It’s clear that gender matters. And when authorities insist that it doesn’t, expect controversy to ensue.
