Adam Smith said that mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent. Perhaps no quote better illustrates the recent mistrial of Lindsay Clancy. Clancy admitted to killing her three children (five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan), but 11 of the 12 jurors were prepared to find her not guilty by reason of insanity.
Recently, Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that he had joined 25 other attorneys general in a brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to protect states’ ability to require proof of citizenship to vote and to remove noncitizens from voter rolls within 90 days of an election.
While I was watching the news about a month ago, I thought I saw during coverage of the DSA Convention a sign that said, “Try Socialism.” Now those of us who have taken time to review the history of socialism (and its brother, communism), know that it doesn’t usually end well and includes the deaths of millions over the years.
