Those who cherish religious liberty have much to celebrate in the latest US Supreme Court ruling. In the case Fulton v Philadelphia, the Court unanimously ruled to protect the religious liberty rights of a Catholic adoption agency in Philadelphia. Despite operating for more than 50 years, the city of Philadelphia severed its contract with the adoption agency because it wouldn’t place children in same-sex parented homes. Children deserve to have both a father and a mother. And Catholic Charities deserve to run their ministry according to their religious convictions. The Court said the Catholic ministry shouldn’t have to choose between serving children and maintaining their values because the U.S. Constitution protects the right to do both.
