Pres. Biden’s mandate for companies with 100 or more employees is meeting stiff resistance from Republican governors. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said, “If the federal government can get away with doing this, what’s going to come next?” South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster vowed to fight Biden’s order “to the gates of hell.” Now, there are many good reasons to get vaccinated, especially for certain age groups and people with medical conditions. However, critics contend the president has no authority to impose such a vaccine mandate on 100 million Americans. Some may have already have Covid and hence have natural immunity. Others may have religious objections. Covid is real. Vaccines help protect individuals and the greater population, but the bottom line is there is no such constitutional authority for the president to impose vaccine mandates.
