The U.S Senate considered a bill to protect babies who survive an abortion attempt. But it fell seven votes short. The Abortion Survivors Protection Act is a response to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's outrageous claim that the decision of life and death for a baby that survives an abortion attempt should be left to the mother and her doctor. A similar bill has been filed in the Kentucky legislature. The bill would ban the deliberate neglect or starvation of any infant, including those with disabilities. This is a difficult and disturbing debate but it's one we must join. It's not just the dignity of infants at stake. It's about all of our dignity and whether we have the courage to protect the most vulnerable among us.
