Midterm elections are less than 90 days away and Kentuckians are asking who to vote for. In other words: “What are the qualities I ought to look for in a candidate?” The answer depends upon what level of office—local, state, or federal.

Kentucky is getting a new governor in 2027, and competition for the office is already heating up. Two prominent Democrats are battling for their party’s nomination: Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman and Rocky Adkins, former senior advisor to Gov. Beshear.

Every first Saturday in August, the little community of Fancy Farm reminds the rest of Kentucky of something we sometimes forget in Frankfort and Washington: politics doesn’t belong only to consultants, cable news panels, or campaign war rooms. It belongs to the people.
