Even though the Kentucky General Assembly ended several months ago, lobbyists have spent $10 million since April with the goal of persuading legislators on issues that affect their industry, most of which are economic. The biggest spender is the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Since January they spent nearly $330,000. The second largest spender was the Kentucky Hospital Association, which spent $125,000 in the last five months alone. Lobbyists.  bring perspective to lawmakers on how issues affect their industry but their perspective isn’t always what makes good and just public policy. Prioritizing the well-being of individuals and the fairness to all Kentuckians should be a priority. Money is considered the lubricant that makes politics go around, but it’s not everything.
