Last year, the Pulaski County School district was heavily involved to defeat the school choice amendment, largely through social media. Many local residents commented in the posts and shared their thoughts on the matter. But to the surprise of some the district blocked opponents like school choice activist Corey DeAngelis, a conservative commentator and school choice activist. DeAngelis was outraged and filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Eastern Kentucky. The suit is now resolved. DeAngelis was unblocked by Pulaski County Schools and won his right to speak—even on a public school district platform. Which is a reminder that when the government silences speech, citizens have the right to appeal to have their First Amendment freedoms restored.
