President Trump has revoked a Biden-era policy that required hospitals to perform emergency abortions when the mother’s life was threatened. On Tuesday of last week the Trump administration said that rule would no longer be enforced. Supporters of the President’s actions argue that the policy actually was a loophole to expand abortion access in states where it was banned. House Bill 90 clarifies the definition of a medical emergency-reminding us that abortion is a tragedy, but the mother’s life must also be protected.
