Gabe Parker was described as cold, callous and “shockingly calm” in an interview with Kentucky State Police after he was apprehended for killing two of his classmates and wounding 14 others at Marshall County High School. The 16-year old red-headed kid with glasses looks boyish and harmless but his merciless actions betrayed something that went terribly wrong in his soul. Parker told an officer that he was an atheist and that his life had no purpose. The shooting was intended to be some kind of experiment and that he wanted to "break the monotony" and see how people would respond to it. How could one so young act like a cold blooded killer and fail to have empathy toward his peers? May God help us to reach young boys like Gabe Parker without hope and purpose, if for no other reason than to prevent another tragedy.
