This new variant of Covid is deadlier and more contagious than the first. Younger people are being hit hard, and many are ending up in critical care units in hospitals. In fact, there are only 90 critical care beds open in the entire state. Yet, many are calling it a hoax or downplaying its seriousness. As Kentuckians, why don’t we ask: how can I be a good neighbor and good community member? Masking around others who are vulnerable or fearful is a start. If you’ve not been vaccinated, ask yourself what is keeping you from it. Be mindful that people are in different places on this issue. So, as a wise pastor friend has been regularly reminding his congregation, give people their space, and give plenty of grace. Yes, we could use a lot more grace toward one another at this time.
