Recent acts of racially motivated violence has gripped us. Two black people were killed at a Louisville Kroger. And 11 worshipers were killed at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Any act of violence is tragic. In response to racial violence CNN commentator Don Lemon blamed white men. He said, "We have to "realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." Lemon is a major public figure and his comments are unfortunate and unhelpful. We should call out all forms of racism and violence. But to paint a broad brush stroke over a large part of the population based on their skin color, violates the very thing Lemon is denouncing, which is racism.
