There are two ways to change the rules of society. The first is where citizens work through the democratic process and leaders change policy in an orderly way, which is called civilization. The second way of change is through mob violence. In the first case, Pres. Trump responded to overaggressive policing via an executive order that directs police departments to improve training on the use of force. Mob rule on the other hand is being demonstrated by a group in Seattle that is forcing change by driving the police out of a precinct headquarters and declaring a six-block area an autonomous zone. In other words, it’s mob rule. Unless order is restored in Seattle, the lawlessness used to purportedly correct wrongs, will likely most hurt the people they’re trying to help.
