The other day I received a postcard that said the Commonwealth Policy Center was on a website called Who’s Funding Hate? The California-based group called Unite Here essentially says you’re a hate group if you believe that marriage is between a man and woman. So it publicized the names of organizations that received donations from the National Christian Foundation (NCF). The NCF often donates to conservative organizations like mine that believe in natural marriage. But Unite Here calls that hate and sent a postcard to socially conservative organizations to intimidate them to back away from such groups. It was a veiled threat that could be translated “if you don’t want to be listed as a hate group, confirm with us that you haven’t received donations from the NCF.” Such campaigns of intimidation and fear are divisive and have no place in our civil society.
