All but one of the teams in Major League Baseball had an LGBTQ Pride Night during the month of June. The only one that didn’t is the Texas Rangers, and they’ve been widely criticized for this. One LGBT activist called it an “embarrassment” to the city of Arlington, where the Rangers play. Even though the team supports several LGBT activist organizations, it’s not enough for those who demand public acknowledgement of LGBT identity. But this is baseball, not a political rally! The Rangers organization has every right to focus on sports, not a divisive message about sexuality. And if given the chance to focus on the game instead of divisive political agendas, the fans would likely be glad to do away with these events.
