There’s a temptation to fear the times. Inflation is skyrocketing, crime and drug addiction are increasing, and Russia is on the verge of invading Ukraine. All this makes many anxious and fearful. But brokenness and pain are the norms for the world. Ever since Adam and Eve rebelled against God in Eden, the world has been a broken place. But for the Christian and followers of Jesus, there is hope. Christians follow the One who came to free the world from sin and pain. Jesus Christ came to reverse the effects of the fall. But he also came to bear the weight of our anxiety and troubles. He calls those “who labor and are heavy laden,” and he promises to give us rest and peace. This is a promise made to us not by any politician but by the God of the universe.
