The headline of the Kentucky New Era said: Kneeling students won't be punished. No, these students weren't praying. They kneeled during the national anthem at a recent sporting event in Todd County —purportedly to protest injustice. Many parents complained and demanded the students be reprimanded.. but Todd County Superintendent Wayne Benningfield told the paper that schools across Kentucky are facing similar situations and "students don't shed their constitutional rights at the school house door." This may be the case, but students considering such protests should ask themselves whether this is the most effective and appropriate way to promote the cause of justice  and whether despite all the flaws of our nation its worth the great offense to the men and women who revere the flag and fought and died for it on the battlefield.
