Student loan debt topped $1.75 Trillion last year. In fact, the debt has tripled in the last 16 years. And this is because the cost of college education has increased by 500% since 1985. One contributing factor is the increased administrative cost in higher-ed. So, is this the best use of our tax dollars? Ellen Carmichael of National Review is calling for a full-scale audit of higher ed to rein in bloated spending. She says that without bold action we’re all going to pay a higher price.
