Student loan debt topped $1.75 Trillion last year. In fact, the debt has tripled in the last 16 years. And this is because the cost of college education has increased by 500% since 1985. One contributing factor is the increased administrative cost in higher-ed. On some campuses, administrators outnumber students and have vague job titles, like “Senior Student Accountability Coordinator” and “LGBTQIA+ Equity, Success, and Wellness Coordinator.” Some even make over $150,000 a year. So, is this the best use of our tax dollars? Ellen Carmichael of National Review is calling for a full-scale audit of higher ed to rein in bloated spending. She says that without bold action we’re all going to pay a higher price.
