Critical Race Theory is one of the most divisive and un-American concepts in society today. The main ways that it is promoted are through educational institutions and museums. In other words, the cultural storytellers. In 2020 the Smithsonian Museum of African-American History described the hallmarks of systemically oppressive “white culture.” They demeaned the traditional family, objective thinking, hard work, and the importance of the Judeo-Christian tradition. An outcry ensued, and the Smithsonian eventually apologized and took down the online infographic. However, this ideology is still unfortunately taught in many American classrooms. So the challenge is for teachers, influencers—the rest of us to embrace the truth about American history—its warts and all, but then to tell the truth about this great gift of freedom otherwise known as America.
