Should school children be forced to wear masks in the upcoming school year? The vaccine hasn’t been approved yet for kids 12 and under. Older students can possibly spread the virus but its not as dangerous to them as the common flu. Now, Governor Beshear is recommending that all school districts require universal indoor masking. But Sen. Max Wise (R-Campbellsville), Chairman of the Senate Education Committee, thinks that local school districts should decide for themselves the best policy. It’s becoming abundantly clear that one-size-fits-all approaches do not work in Kentucky. School districts, and particularly parents, know what is best for their students and their communities and not a top-down approach, even if by our governor.
