The Supreme Court is taking up two important cases that affect our most basic liberties. The first case involves a Colorado baker who is in trouble for refusing to provide a cake for a gay wedding. Jack Phillips isn't against serving homosexual customers, something he's done over the years. What he opposes is participating in an event that he believes is sacrilegious. The other case involves pro-life pregnancy care centers in California that are being forced by the state to provide information on how women can get an abortion. This compelled speech undermines the mission of these pro-life ministries. Both cases are critical to upholding the First Amendment and our most cherished rights; Freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The rulings will be handed down sometime in 2018.
