Kentucky does not allow abortions. But according to a recent proposal in the legislature, that could change. Senate Bill 99 proposes to allow exceptions for the abortion ban. Pro-life Kentuckians are opposed to this bill because it fails to recognize the personhood of the unborn child and undermines pro-life laws. Sexual assault causes real trauma and heartache. But we should not determine if a child has a right to life based on their sex, race, parents, position in society, or how they were conceived. When it comes to who should live and who should die, a compassionate society doesn’t include that as a choice, which is what SB 99 does. A just society prosecutes the perpetrator, protects innocent life, and assists mothers on their path towards healing and wholeness.
