Governor Beshear’s controversial mask mandate is ruffling feathers. Critics say he’s defying the rule of law. This is because the Kentucky legislature passed a bill authorizing local school boards, not the governor, to make that decision. The mandate is also revealing something else: incivility. State Sen. Whitney Westerfield (R-Crofton) simply asked if any considered what mandatory masks do to the psychological health of children. The response he got from Jefferson County Public School Board vice-chairman Chris Kolb was an “f—- you.” obnoxious By the way, Sen. Westerfield is asking for prayer for Mr. Kolb, who has since stepped down as Vice-chair of the JCPS School Board. But when elected leaders respond to reasonable questions with vulgarity instead of thoughtful response, they really need to step down from office and find another job.
