The Kentucky governor’s race was one of the closest statewide elections in state history and decided by about 5000 votes or .5 percent. Democrat Andy Beshear was declared the winner and he’s in the process of assembling his transition team. Conservatives who supported Bevin may be sad at the results, but the election was remarkable and something everyone should be able to celebrate in that it signaled the peaceful transition of power from one political party to another. This is something we take for granted but many nations don’t experience this. It’s more common to see corruption in the election process or political leaders attempt to hold onto power even after voted out of office. This wasn’t the case here. Andy Beshear will be inaugurated as Kentucky’s 63rd governor on December 10.
