Nevada had its Republican primary, and the winner was no one. Nikki Haley was the only viable GOP option since Donald Trump wasn’t on the ballot, yet she only received 30% of the votes. 63% voted for “none of these candidates.” Despite not being on the ballot in the primary, Donald Trump is expected to win the upcoming Nevada caucus. This shows the frustration that Republican voters have with candidates who will not bring significant change, especially with issues like the porous southern border and the crisis of illegal immigration. But critics say if Donald Trump wins, they may get “significant” change, but perhaps more than they bargained for. While many Republican voters see Trump as a solution to our political problems, others see him as a threat to institutional checks and balances and civility.
