The American Psychological Association (APA) removed a Duke University neuroscience professor from their email discussion group for believing there are only two sexes. Dr. John Staddon, a neuroscience professor at Duke University, was told that “others have voiced concerns” over his posts. Staddon responded by saying “Science, real science, can and should be isolated from politics. Science has values, to be sure — curiosity, honesty, openness to debate, adherence to empirical facts, and so on — but they are not, and should not be political” He maintains that Most of [his]comments have been devoted to that fact. I might add that a sense of humor would help.” It may not be politically correct to believe that there are two sexes, but that Staddon’s belief is based on hard science which is based on facts and not political opinion.
