Gov. Andy Beshear’s latest mask mandate for public schools hit a wall in the Kentucky state legislature. Beshear disregarded a state law that gave local school boards the authority to decide for themselves whether or not to mask up. Some legislators are now calling for Beshear’s impeachment because he has defied the law. Speaker of the House David Osborne said, “If this situation truly requires a statewide approach, then he must use the path prescribed by law and undergo the appropriate process and oversight.” Osborne said Beshear is “not only playing politics, but also acting as the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government in defiance of legislation and judicial orders.” Attorney General Daniel Cameron agrees and is taking Beshear to court.
