LGBT activists in Indianapolis are hosting a sex-ed summer camp for elementary school children this summer. The goal is to “affirm non-binary, body-positive, social emotional learning through play” with an “inclusive sexuality educator.” This camp is for 3rd-5th graders. There are many dangers here, but one clear danger is that it makes publicly common the most intimate and private aspect of one’s personhood. So how do we get to a place where a camp sexualizing children is considered a good idea? And what kind of parent would send their kid to this kind of camp?. Good parenting protects their children and also takes the lead in talking to their kids about sensitive topics.
