Thousands of Kentuckians and out-of-state volunteers are helping West Kentucky residents rebuild after the devastating tornado swept through. In response to the storm, Gov. Beshear announced the launching of a new website that will provide information on unemployment, housing, and food assistance. Beshear said Kentuckians will be committed to helping rebuild, and “we will be here every single day for however long it takes to rebuild every building and every life, to get everyone as close as we can to where they need to be.” While not everyone agrees with Beshear’s governance, it’s important to give respect where respect is due. Gov. Beshear is leading in a time of profound loss and tragedy. And relief efforts are something we can all unite around because caring for our fellow Kentuckians is not a partisan issue.
