Kentucky’s in the middle of an unemployment crisis with more than 900,000 Kentuckians applying for unemployment benefits since early March. This has been induced by Gov. Beshear ordering so many businesses closed but the governor didn’t think about the demand on the unemployment system.  There’s a backlog of more than 50,000-claims and Gov. Beshear borrowed over $800 million from the federal government to cover all the unemployment benefits. Paducah State Sen. Danny Carroll is outraged at the fiasco and told a legislative committee “We have people now that are a greater risk of not being able to feed their kids and losing everything they have than they are of the COVID and we did not even bother to consider that when all of these decisions were made.”
